Newcastle Tenants and Residents Federation is an independent, tenant led, umbrella voluntary organisation representing tenants and residents associations (TARAs) throughout Newcastle upon Tyne. We are also one of the oldest Federation's in the country, having been formed in 1977. On 28th March 2012, the Federation became a registered charity.
Our focus is on working with tenants and residents, to relieve deprivation and improve housing conditions and living environments across the city.
We support and develop representative and democratic tenants and residents associations, so that they can play a full part in the decisions about their housing and environment. We also offer support to individual tenants and residents associations and interest groups and bring groups together over issues of common concern.
Associate membership of the Federation is open to tenants and residents associations in Newcastle upon Tyne, which have a majority of council housing tenants. Individual tenants and organisations who share the aims and objectives of the Federation may also affiliate.
